
This Conference is organized by the Malaysian Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Penang, supporting ASEAN 2015 Integration and Malaysia’s Chairmanship of the ASEAN Summit 2015. Around 300 participants mainly from the Malay, Indian, Chinese, and International Chambers of Commerce has attended the conference, with 3 objectives in mind for participants:
1. Business preparation in ASEAN
2. To facilitate their knowledge of ASEAN 2015 Integration;
3. To provide feedback on ASEAN for Malaysia Chairmanship of ASEAN Summit 2015
YBhg Tan Sri Datuk K. K. Eswaran, President of MAICCI officiated the conference while Y.A.B. Tuan Lim Guan Eng, Chief Minister of Penang graced the occasion with his presence.
ASEAN is projected to have 125 million households with an income of over US$7500 in the next 10 years and would be the 6th largest economy in the world with a combined gross domestic product expected to reach US$4 trillion by 2020.
The 8 conference workshops will focus on doing business and business opportunities, based on the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) Pillar and ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) Pillar.
